West Ones Got Talent (21 May 2010)
“Thank you”
Thank you to everybody who made Visitors’ day such a success with 10+ visitors drawn mainly from the legal profession, property and surveying sector and health and wellbeing. I think I managed to speak to all the guests – either before or after the meeting – and I think we can be hopeful of two or more applications for membership. Some will be returning next week for a second bite of the cherry. There was a good deal of networking both before and after the meeting … the place was really buzzing!
In speaking with various people it was evident that some visitors didn’t show. Had they done so we would have had some 18 or so visitors this morning! The effort to get people along is none-the-less recognised. If your guest(s) didn’t show today, make a call to see if another day might be more convenient.
Feedback from the guests was very encouraging today and whilst the Membership Committee will, as a matter of course, contact those guests who did put in an appearance, please do make a point of following up any guest you invited today.
Max, Tony and Patrick gave excellent testimonials to BNI during Laura’s 10-Minute presentation; as did Matthew, Nicole and others in the Referrals and Testimonials section. These words of encouragement are very valuable indeed and help in the process of converting visitors to potential members.
Many thanks to all who made the effort to get in a little earlier to welcome visitors. One of my guests arrived before me … and I got there this morning at 06.30!!
Thank you Laura for your presence yet again and for supporting us on this important occasion.
Apologies
Andrew Robins, Harvey Gordon and Neil Strain sent apologies for absence. We all look forward to seeing you next week.
My apologies, also, to those whose details were incorrect on the hand-out. I put this together very, very hastily indeed yesterday afternoon: clearly using old and defunct business cards in some cases (I really must update my card file). I will correct this in time for our next Visitors’ Day!
New Member
It is always a great pleasure to induct a new member and we all extend a warm welcome to Rebecca Nightingale who is now an official West-Oner! I am certain that she will get referrals and I am equally certain that she will be looking out for all chapter members in the weeks and months to come.
Education
Flora continued the theme of ‘getting your message across’ and effective communication. I am sure that there will be more variations on this very important theme in the weeks to come.
Referrals and Testimonials
There were 25 referrals and visitor slips today.
In furtherance of chapter growth …
Mary-Jane, Krystyna and I attended a Leadership Team event in St James’ yesterday evening to feed off (and contribute to) initiatives that are successful in other chapters. There are one or two ideas we might roll out in the months to come. As always we welcome your views on how the chapter is doing and how we might improve our prospects of growth.
In closing I remind you that it’s Friday and the weekend starts here! The weather prospects are also very good so get out the barbie, break out the knotted hanky and flash those pale winter legs!
See you all next Friday.
Steve
